Dmitry Mishin

Dmitry serves as an Infrastructure Architect at the Lab, focusing on the intersection of cloud-native services, automated container orchestration, and high-performance computing. He brings extensive expertise in distributed storage filesystems and production-grade AI platforms. Before his current role, Dmitry was a Principal Systems Engineer at the San Diego Supercomputer Center (SDSC UCSD), where he architected and scaled the National Research Platform—a massive, federated Kubernetes cluster delivering distributed computing resources to the global scientific community—while simultaneously supporting SDSC’s core HPC environments.

Henrik Norberg

ScienceIT Consultant

Henrik first joined the Lab in 1995 as a visiting researcher in the Nuclear Science Division, where he developed software for visualizing nuclear structure data. In 1997, he transitioned to the Data Management R&D group in the Computer Science Division, focusing on data infrastructure planning for experiments at the LHC at CERN and RHIC. In 1998, Henrik co-founded Jitterbit, a data integration and workflow company, where he served as Chief Software Architect and VP of Engineering for ten years.

Andrew Schmeder

Andrew has been immersed in the world of IT world since he was 13, from crafting intricate text-adventure games in BASIC on his dad’s trusty 8086, to fixing computers for neighborhood businesses, and orchestrating elaborate online pranks to "break" the internet. After earning his Mathematics degree at UC Berkeley, he rode the dot-com wave, building full-stack LAMP apps on the digital frontier. Today, he specializes in helping scientists harness computational power, streamline complex data workflows, and leverage AI inference services, adding rocket fuel to groundbreaking research.

Adam Stone

CIO/IT Division Director

Adam is the Chief Information Officer (CIO) and Information Technology (IT) Division Director at Berkeley Lab. With more than 16 years experience as the Deputy CIO, Adam leads risk-management, cyber security strategy, assurance and compliance, and overall technical strategy in cloud, HPC, collaboration technologies, and data centers. Prior to joining the Lab, Adam spent 8 years as a researcher at Los Alamos National Laboratory.
